Dahlia Mermaid by Sandrine Maugy

Dahlia Mermaid

From the 'Garden of Roy Lancaster'

"I was given this plant by an exhibitor at the Derby Flower Show in 2002.

I adore its nodding flowers with their lilac pink petals through Summer until the first frosts. I bring the tubers indoors for the Winter.

It was raised by Cornishman Jim Cave of Falmouth from seed of D.sherffii wild collected in Mexico. The flower, he told me, reminded him of a sea creature, which influenced his choice of cultivar name after a Cornish legend."
